Frequently asked questions

How do I start a project with OPAL?

Every project begins with an introductory call where we learn about your space, timeline, and goals. From there, we put together a tailored proposal that outlines our recommended services, fee structure, and a clear path forward. There's no obligation, and it's the fastest way to understand whether we're the right fit for your project.

What services does OPAL offer?

We provide full-service interior design, FF&E and OS&E procurement, international logistics, and installation oversight. Whether you're furnishing a private residence, a resort villa, or a luxury hospitality property, we manage every detail from early design documentation through final turnover, so nothing falls through the gaps between teams.

Do you offer procurement only?

Yes. If you have an existing design and need a procurement partner to take it across the finish line, we can step in. We handle vendor coordination, purchasing, freight logistics, and installation oversight, working from your specifications to execute with precision.

How are your fees structured?

We work on a flat fee based on the scope of your project. This model keeps us fully aligned with your interests. We do not mark up furniture or products, and all trade discounts are passed directly to you. You always know what you're paying and why.

Do you mark up furniture or products?

No. Our compensation comes entirely from our design and procurement fee. Trade pricing is passed through to you at cost, which means your budget goes further and there's no conflict of interest in what we specify or source.

Can you work with our architect or existing designer?

Absolutely. We collaborate regularly with architects, interior designers, and developer teams. Our role is to support and strengthen the process, not replace it. We can plug into an existing team to handle procurement, logistics documentation, and execution without disrupting the design vision already in place.

What makes OPAL different?

We sit at the intersection of design, procurement, and logistics, which is a combination most firms don't offer under one roof. That integration matters because it eliminates the handoff problems that cause delays, cost overruns, and miscommunication on complex projects. Our clients get a single team with full visibility across every phase.

What is a typical project timeline?

Most projects range from several months to over a year depending on scope, custom lead times, and site readiness. We map out procurement timelines at the start of every engagement so decisions are made proactively, not reactively. Early planning is one of the most effective ways to protect your schedule.

Do you manage installation?

Yes. We oversee the full installation process from start to finish, including white-glove delivery, on-site coordination, and punch list completion. We don't hand things off at the loading dock. We're there through final placement and client acceptance.

How do you handle shipping, importing, and storage?

We coordinate all logistics, including domestic and international freight, customs and importation, warehousing, and pre-installation inspection. This is especially critical on projects sourcing from multiple countries or delivering to remote resort locations, where the margin for error is low and the cost of mistakes is high.

Do you work with clients outside your location?

Yes. We work on projects across the United States and internationally, including resort and residential developments in Mexico and beyond. We travel as needed and manage logistics both remotely and on-site, building local vendor relationships wherever the project takes us.

Can I see examples of your past work?

Yes, You can view our work here.

Selected projects are available on our website, and we're happy to share additional work, references, and case studies during the proposal conversation. The best way to understand how we work is to see it in context.
